The Gospel According to John

Filed under: Commentary — Peter Hebert @ 7:34 PM

Before the King James Version of 1611 came out, the Roman Catholic Church put out an English language version of the New Testament in 1582 at the English language (cathedral) college at Reims, France. (Below is that English language translation adapted into a manuscript format I produced. It is the opening to the Gospel according to John the apostle and evangelist). In 1610, the Old Testament was translated from the Latin Vulgate into English at the English language (cathedral) college at Douay, France. The Roman Catholics were ahead of the curve, the Anglicans used the Catholic version of the New Testament to influence the King James Version, but lost the public relations battle in the reformation, counter reformation, and English language translations of the Bible that followed. The fact is, the Douay-Reims Version is rather obscure, yet provides a superb English language translation.

As an obscure point, Acts 12:4 in the New Testament translates the word pesach (Hebrew is pronounced PAY-sock) into Passover in the Douay-Reims version. The King James Version translated pesach into Easter … though the Greek and Latin were accurate …. pesach. Most Christians, Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, and Protestants celebrate Easter (the resurrection) though it should be called the Feast of First Fruits.

“The fifteenth of Nisan begins Hag HaMatzah (the Feast of Unleavened Bread), which is a high sabbath …. It is a seven day feast to the Lord. The day following the sabbath during Passover is called the Feast of First Fruits (Leviticus 23:10-11).” (Taken from http://www.mayimhayim.org/Festivals/Feast5.htm).

The Deception of Media and Surprise Prediction at End

Filed under: Commentary — Peter Hebert @ 3:00 PM

Are Americans being dumbed down by the corporate run media so that widespread political realism does not take hold within the United States?
CNN, MSNBC, FOX News are media giants collapsing from the weight of their own poor journalistic judgements.

Filed under: Commentary — Peter Hebert @ 5:12 AM

Peter Hebert is the second hour guest on Time Out with Kevin Gallagher. (Starts at the 58 minute mark). Topics for discussion include the corporate controlled media that shape public perception, the perverse confluence of interests between the United States and Israel, the pending middle east war between Israel and Iran, the just war and preemptive war doctrines, the Wall Street-Capitol Hill business-political model, the $26 billion bank settlement, political realism, and global economics.

On the Money with Peter Hebert, “Sandra Fluke: Campus Slut?” March 2, 2012

Filed under: Commentary — Peter Hebert @ 8:06 PM

There is a saying in the Bible: “Answer a fool according to his folly.” And, that is exactly what Rush Limbaugh did when he denounced Sandra Fluke. Sure, Rush was over the top, rude, and inflammatory, but he made his point and got everyone’s attention to the absurdity of Sandra Fluke’s petition before Congress.

Sandra Fluke’s concern was over not having $3,000 in contraceptive coverage provided by the health plan of a religious university. That $3,000 represents a lot of sleeping around. Sandra Fluke, not Obama, not you or me, and not her parents, is responsible for her sexuality and reproductive abilities. In other words, if Sandra Fluke wants to sleep around on campus like “a slut” as Rush said, she should pay for her own birth control pills. If she does not want to get a sexually transmitted disease, Sandra Fluke should pay for the condoms and keep them in her purse in the event one of her casual encounters does not keep one in his wallet.

At issue is the First Amendment’s establishment clause, which everyone seems to have missed as they have understandably attacked Rush Limbaugh for his offensive remarks. Sandra Fluke has attacked the establishment clause and in so doing has attacked everyone who respects the Constitution and Bill of Rights. And, the hypocrisy of the liberal left is that when it comes to abortion, women on the liberal left will say, “Stay out of my uterus!” But, when it comes to managing personal finances and making the choice between a $3.00 latte or owing the responsibility for one’s own sexuality and reproductive abilities, these same women will petition Congress and plead, “Please! Enter my uterus!”

Rush Limbaugh was over the top in his response to Sandra Fluke’s testimony on Capitol Hill. But, then again, that is his signature style. It’s abrasive and offensive, which is why I don’t care for Rush Limbaugh. But, he deserves credit for bringing Sandra Fluke’s testimony before Congress to the nation’s attention.

Again, there is a saying in the Bible: “Answer a fool according to his folly.” Sandra Fluke’s positions are foolish and discredit Georgetown University.

On the Money with Peter Hebert, “Andrew Breitbart (1969 – 2012),” March 2, 2012

Filed under: Commentary — Peter Hebert @ 5:45 PM

Andrew Breitbart, the conservative blogger and crusader at www.breitbart.com, died suddenly at the age of 43 of “natural causes.” There is no such thing as a death at 43 of “natural causes” unless perhaps it is due to a 12 hour-a-day, seven day-a-week schedule working like an animal. The fact is, Breitbart garnered the hatred of liberal politicians and journalists. Breitbart brought down Shirley Sherrod and Anthony Weiner, and was intent on bringing down Barack Obama.

The Mysterious Death of Andrew Breitbart: Infowars Nightly News

The reactions to the death of Andrew Breitbart have been from one extreme to the other. In Matt Taibbi’s article “Andrew Breitbart: Death of a Douche” in Rolling Stone, he opens with, “So Andrew Breitbart is dead. Here’s what I have to say to that, and I’m sure Breitbart himself would have respected this reaction: Good! F— him. I couldn’t be happier that he’s dead.” See http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/blogs/taibblog/andrew-breitbart-death-of-a-douche-20120301.

John Stockwell, “CIA: The Secret Wars,” January 30, 2011

Filed under: Commentary — Peter Hebert @ 7:48 PM

This seven-part series of short video clips is a lecture titled “CIA: The Secret Wars” by John Stockwell, a CIA and U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Stockwell is the author of The Praetorian Guard: The U.S. Role in the New World Order. Stockwell argues that the CIA has orchestrated several mechanisms within government to pull off a coup d’état within the United States. Stockwell notes that more Americans die of rattle snake bites and choking on grissle in greasy spoon establishments each year than of horrific acts of terror. The CIA and the federal government, according to Stockwell, have created many evil boogeymen that include drug smugglers and terrorists as useful tools to justify the implementation of un-American laws and practices that anger citizens, who watch the Capitol Hill hearings and pay attention to the many outrageous bills that become laws. Part six is the beginning of the question and answer session and opens with how to stop “the cancer” in America known as the pervasive fraud called “national security.”
