On the Money with Peter Hebert, “Lessons from Esther and Purim,” February 20, 2013

Filed under: Commentary — Peter Hebert @ 4:21 AM

This prerecorded 30 minute segment of On the Money with Peter Hebert is titled “Lessons from Esther and Purim.” Each year around the world, Jews read from the Book of Esther and recount the tale of horror at the prospect of evil that sought genocide, hope in the winds of political change, and triumph in the taste of victory … even in hope against hope. Purim is celebrated, because life is good and the retelling of this unique story is sweet. Special guest Rabbi Sholom Raichik appears to provide the Jewish perspective. The Book of Esther shows us the unseen hand of God at work in protecting His people from harm. While each generation faces its unique set of challenges, two things are certain. First, God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. And second, while God’s name may not appear in the text, his Name certainly was written on the hearts of those who believed and were saved.
